Fishy 2008
Just a very quick and general update to get the ball rolling for 2008, we hope everyone had a good break and well deserved holiday. Some may be still itching to get out for a fish as bad weather and poor sea conditions have limited many fishing plans. The east coast of Australia was battered and many fishing competitions and gatherings were canned or had poor contribution due to the conditions. Reports from Darwin Harbour have come in with mixed results, once again cyclonic weather has made things difficult but there still is the odd Jew and Barra for those that are willing to put in the hard yards. Sydney harbour has had a good run of kingfish with the odd one hitting the one meter mark. They have been doing well around Quarantine and North Head, fresh or live squids, yakkas and plastics have been the flavour of the month. Out wide off Sydney even though the conditions haven’t been great, there has been an abundance of bait schools with some Marlin activity and captures in close. Stay tuned for an exciting year with up to date fishing reports Australia wide from leading charter operators. |

Illawarra and South Coast FAD redeployment Good news for NSW South Coast as the Fisheries will redeploy three FADs from Wollongong to Jervis Bay. Program manager Marcus Gregson states the FADs will be installed by the 4th of December if weathers permitting. "These devices can act like magnets for mahi-mahi or dolphin fish and even marlin, creating offshore opportunities for the fishing community who are seeking a quality fishing experience," Mr Gregson said. Keep comming back as once deployed co-ordinates will be posted on Fishy Trader. |
